Celebrating our green King!

As we near the coronation weekend, we thought this would be the perfect time to celebrate all the now King Charles does as an outspoken supporter of sustainability, organic farming, renewable energy and biodiversity. However, will this continue now that he is head of state?

This question comes to the fore as he was advised not to be involved in COP27. This followed his significant contribution to the COP26 climate summit in 2021. He made several speeches urging people to increase their efforts to confront global warming and warning that “time is quite literally running out.”
King Charles advocates a “sustainable Clarence House.” The organic gardens harvest Duchy organic produce, which is sold to retail. Around 90% of energy for office and domestic use comes from on-site solar panels, biomass boilers, and hydroelectric heat pumps. The remainder of the electricity and gas is purchased from outside renewable sources.

We hope that the future of British farming looks brighter with a committed environmentalist spearheading campaign to support UK domestic production sustainably. As always, education is critical to raising awareness of the importance of increasing production and, thus, the population's consumption of fresh seasonal produce for many years to come.
