Seasonal produce fit for a seasoned foodie!

Our family-run company has been growing and selling fruit and vegetables for over 100 years, giving us plenty of time to appreciate the importance of fresh seasonal produce! Considering the current market volatility due to increased costs and difficulty importing certain products, this seems like an optimal time to capitalise on the fresh produce thriving here in the UK.

We have many experienced growers based across the UK that work tirelessly in responding to the changing climate and maximising production to ensure we always have access to the highest quality of seasonal produce. At this time of year, we have potatoes, parsnips, purple sprouting broccoli, carrots, beetroot, leeks, spring greens and many more! Opting to buy locally will ease the pressure on products struggling to get to the shelves and reduce the environmental impact of importing. A process that has been exacerbated by recent extreme weather, BREXIT import rules, Ukraine-Russia War, and COVID-19, to name a few!

Possible benefits of seasonal fruit and vegetables:

1. Better for your health – produce harvested in its correct season usually has a longer growing period, thus more likely to be nutrient-dense than when picked before its prime.

2. Tastes better – as it is picked in its prime it is more likely to hold more flavour.

3. Can save money – even though prices have risen due to inflation, seasonal produce is typically sold at best price as less input is required, compared to forcing conditions for produce being grown out of season.

If you would like any advice on seasonal produce, please do not hesitate to contact us; we would be happy to help!
